Buon Natale – Merry Christmas

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Tanti auguri di Buon Natale e Felice Anno Nuovo!

I just got back from New York and I have been busy getting ready for the Christmas Eve Feast dinner. Mom has been frying all day making grispelle, cuddurieddi and cannariculi.

If you missed me on the Martha Stewart baking show on Tuesday,  click here to watch a clip of the show.  Click on the “Peaches with cream”  picture to see me making the “”Pesche con crema” with Martha Stewart.

I “LOVED” watching you on Martha Stewart! The peaches look so easy to make!

Auguri di Boun Natale e Felice Anno Nuovo anche per te e la tua famiglia! Congratulations on being on the show! It must have been fun! I prepared a traditional Calabrian treat also – Petrali. Do you know them? My cousin sent me the recipe. Have a look at my blog to check them out. They are delicious as do your mom’s look!

    Marcellina,

I had a recipe for Petrali from a family that lives in Reggio Calabria and it is very similar to yours but it doesn’t have the coffee in the filling. I think the addition of the coffee sounds good. This cookie along with other Calabrian cookies didn’t make it in the book. Thanks for sharing the recipe. If you don’t have the mosto cotto, you can take a bottle of red wine and add a cup of sugar and reduce it until reduced to one cup of syrup.

Congratulations on the lovely cookbook. I was lucky enough to find it under the tree on Christmas morning. The peaches are great. My mom came to visit and brought me a batch!

    Rosetta!

Buona fine e buon principio! Thank you so much for writing such a tremendous cookbook. I’m so proud to be half Calabrian! So far I’ve bought the cookbook four times (once for myself and three times as gifts). I also did a post about your book on my blog: http://creampuffsinvenice.ca/2010/12/03/the-12-days-of-cookbooks-day-3-2/. And we made the insalata di polipo for our Christmas Eve feast. I hope there are more cookbooks in your future!

    Rosetta:
What a great job you did on Martha’s show. I am looking forward to when you will have your own hint hint. With your Mom and Dad for sure please greet them for me!

I saw your book at Oliveto I wish I had your dinners there… Your book has brought me in to the the best bread ever. My daughter is a bread freak me too. What a gift your book has brought our house. With flour, warm salted water and some stale yeast from 2005 wow. My starter has been alive for a month I take care of it it takes care for me and tastes better than bought. Now I can make salsiccia en carozza !

Heres to you and your work.
